Teaching children about Ukraine and shaping their national identity is of great importance. It’s not only because children who know their history, language, and culture become carriers of these values. They preserve Ukraine’s cultural heritage and pass it on to future generations, which in turn fosters national unity and respect for their roots. More importantly, self-identification helps children understand who they are, where they come from, and what values are important to them. This gives them a sense of belonging and resilience, especially in times of uncertainty, conflict, or globalization, when the issue of identity becomes more pressing.
For us, it is important that children understand their national identity and better appreciate the importance of preserving and respecting other cultures. This fosters tolerance and openness to the world, while still maintaining their own values.
