Each child needs their own approach
At the Children’s Support Center, we are reminded every day that each child requires an individual approach. There is no universal formula that works the same for everyone. What truly matters is attentiveness, patience, and the willingness to find the exact way of interaction that helps a child feel safe and gradually open up. Some children open up through creativity — through paints, paper, clay, and small detailed work that requires focus. Others take time, observing quietly at first, as if testing the space for trust. It is incredibly meaningful to witness how careful observation turns into ...

You can create in any mood
Creativity is our little ray of light in the darkest times. In any weather. Under any circumstances. If there is no electricity — a flashlight will shine. It may be snowing and cold outside — but inside the Center it is warm. The warmth does not come from the radiators, but from the atmosphere our educators and volunteers create every single day. Children draw, cut, sculpt, invent. And in those moments, the world becomes calmer and safer. For children, creativity is a way to be here and now. To focus, to calm down, to hold attention. To develop imagination, fine motor skills, and inner ...

The best people are by our side
There are people who do not appear just once — "for an event" or "to check a box." They are there constantly. On difficult days, during exhausting weeks, in moments when it is simply important to know that you are not alone. Our Center has such close friends and benefactors who support our children not with words, but with presence, actions, and care. Those who help consistently: with warmth, food, education, safety, attention, and time. Thanks to you, children have a sense of stability. There are calm evenings, laughter, growth, and plans for tomorrow. There is confidence that there are adults ...

Care that continues
A story about when support does not disappear after the first step, but becomes part of everyday life. That is exactly how, for a long time now, Nova klubb Sverige - Ukrainian Family Hub in Gothenburg has been with us: a space for children, youth, and entire families where community, inspiration, and inner strength are born. And at the same time - a community that systematically supports the children in our care. Every month, this support looks truly impressive. These are personal gifts chosen with attention to each child. These are food supplies that cover basic needs. But above all, it is a sense ...

Miroslava and Sviatoslava’s birthday
Recently, our Center was filled with a special light - two wonderful children, Miroslava and Sviatoslava, celebrated their birthdays. They are an example of how much kindness, tenderness, and talent a child can have. Miroslava is a sincere, attentive, and very sensitive girl. She always notices if someone is sad, supports them, hugs them, shares with them. Her smile can melt away any fatigue. Sviatoslava is kind, creative, and incredibly talented. She knows how to rejoice in every little thing, inspires others with her curiosity, and is always ready to help. Her energy is like a little sun shining ...

Despite everything, life goes on
The threat of ballistic missiles and UAVs. Winter. Cold. No electricity. Air-raid alerts again change plans and the rhythm of the day. And our wonderful artist Tetiana and I are sitting in a bomb shelter and drawing. Right here and now. On our knees, under artificial light, between alerts and phone notifications. We draw because it is what holds us. What does not let us stop. What reminds us: we are alive. In moments like these, you feel especially sharply the value of simple things - the silence between sirens, the ability to be together, to do something creative even in the least adapted conditions. ...

Miracles happen. And they are about children
Recently, a true miracle happened at our Center: three of the children in our care went to families. Zlata is now with her biological relatives. And Varia and Polia, as of today, are in a friendly family-type children’s home. It is especially touching that this family is already raising our children who were with us before the war - so it is not just a new home, but familiar hearts and proven love. We are letting you go with light hearts and great faith. May each of you have a childhood with hugs, calm, support, and laughter. We wish all our little stars happiness, health, and growing up in ...

Snowballs matter more than words
We are starting this year not with plans - but with snow under our feet. With laughter that can be heard from afar. With jackets that are already wet, and snowballs that matter more than any words. Today, in the City of Happy Children, it’s an ordinary winter day. The children are playing. And that may be the best sign for the start of the year. May this year for each of us be made up of simple joys and moments when it feels good just to be. Peaceful skies. And boundless gratitude to the Armed Forces of Ukraine - for allowing children to live their childhood at ...

This Christmas, the children experienced a truly special day
A day when communication knows no boundaries, and kindness knows no age. We visited the “The Power of Kindness” residential home for the elderly and service members with limited mobility, and this time the children came as volunteers. They played together, talked with grandmothers and grandfathers, held creative workshops, laughed, and listened to stories. They made gifts with their own hands - and warmly presented them together. Together we decorated the Christmas tree, creating a real Christmas atmosphere of home and care. For the children, it was an unforgettable experience - about empathy, ...
