New Year’s traditions

The custom came to decorate a New Year tree to us from Germany. There is a legend about what began traditions to decorate a fir-tree the German reformer Martin Luther put. In 1513, coming back home on the eve of Christmas, Luther was fascinated and delighted beauty of the stars covering the heavenly code so densely that it seemed as if also crowns sparkle asterisks. Houses he delivered a fir-tree on a table and decorated it with candles, and on a top set up a star in memory of the Star of Bethlehem which specified a way to a cave where Jesus was born.

Today there were many styles of decoration of a New Year tree. The most traditional of them — decoration of a fir-tree multi-colored toys from glass, electric bulbs and tinsel. Last century natural trees began to replace artificial, some of them very skillfully imitated live fir-trees and were decorated with a regular method, others were stylized, not requiring jewelry. There was a fashion for registration of New Year trees in a certain color — silvery, golden, red, blue, minimalist style in registration of a fir-tree firmly became fashionable. Garlands from multi-colored fires remained invariable attribute of decoration of a fir-tree only, but also here electric bulbs are already succeeded by light-emitting diodes.

Now and we in the Center have a remarkable fir-tree which reminds that very soon Father Frost and the Snow Maiden will come to us on a visit. What and to you we wish 🙂
