Solomiia’s Birthday
Our wonderful Solomiia is celebrating her birthday! This girl is the true sunshine of the Center: bright, sincere, with a big kind heart. She’s one of those children who don’t just live alongside others — she inspires, surprises, and brings joy to everyone around. During her time at the Center, Solomiia has blossomed incredibly. Every day we see how she discovers new talents — she cooks delicious meals, paints with inspiration, and dances with soul. And most importantly — she knows how to love, care for others, and give support. That’s what makes her truly special. The celebration was ...

On kindness and politeness
Today we talked with the children about what kindness is, why it’s important to be polite and caring to one another. Together, we recalled the magic words — “thank you,” “please,” “sorry,” “help me” — those little words that have great power to make the world a better place. The children shared their own stories about good deeds, learned to notice when they can support a friend, help, say something kind and meaningful. At the end of our talk, everyone made their own lovely craft — a “Kitten.” Because kindness is also warmth, tenderness, and care — something that can ...

Three years later…
A meaningful date has recently passed — three years since the children from our Center were evacuated to Germany after the start of the full-scale invasion. Those were difficult times: hurried packing, fear of the unknown, a long road, a new country, a new language, adaptation. But kind hearts were always near our children. Much has changed since then. Some children found new families. In Kyiv, we opened a renewed Center and took in new children deprived of parental care. And our German friends have done — and continue to do — incredible things: they supported the evacuated children every ...

Exploring the world through colors
One of our children’s favorite activities at the Center is painting with the artist Tetiana. Tetiana is our kind fairy with a brush and colors, who has been coming to the children as a volunteer for many years. Regularly, with an open heart and boundless imagination. Her sessions are not just about paint and paper. They are about expressing what can’t always be said in words. About processing emotions, healing through creativity, and creating a safe space where a child can truly be themselves. Thank you, Ms. Tetiana, for your sensitivity, warmth, patience, and belief in every child. For all the ...

New children in our Center
We’ve welcomed new children, for whom our Center has become a temporary but safe home. 12-year-old Varia, 8-year-old Polina, and 10-year-old twins — Myroslava and Sviatoslav — have just started a new chapter in their lives. Each of them has their own difficult story, their own silence behind their backs. We are not sharing the details yet. But we do know one thing for sure: they will be cared for here. The children are now adapting: getting to know the space, the adults, and each other. They are slowly starting to smile, take part in shared activities, draw, and play. They are learning to ...

People who change the world beside us
For many years, there’s been someone who regularly comes to our Center — a person without whom it’s hard to imagine our daily life. Oleksandr. Sasha. Simply — our friend. His visits are always special days. Days filled with more warmth, smiles, and calmness. When children don’t just listen — they watch with admiration, remember, and trust. Because Sasha comes not out of duty, but sincerely, with an open heart. He gives children the most precious things — his time, attention, and knowledge. Together with friends from the “Good Samaritans” organization, Sasha conducts sessions that ...

When the world gets a little brighter
May 16 became a day our children will remember for a long time. Thanks to our cooperation with the Obolon District Organization of the Red Cross Society of Ukraine in Kyiv, our residents visited the unique entertainment center “First Legion” — a place where even adults feel like children, and children simply feel happy. It wasn’t just a game of laser tag. It was a day when laughter was louder than memories of hard times. A day when every child felt important, protected, and needed. Red Cross volunteers and the team of the “First Legion” Center welcomed the children with warmth, care, and ...

Happy International Children’s Day!
This day is about the most important thing — children who deserve safety, love, and care. It’s about every child’s right to be heard, accepted, and protected. Since 2007, the “Home of Happy Children” Center proves every day: even in the darkest times, we can create a space where childhood becomes bright again. A space where children who have lost their homes or families receive a chance at a new life, support, and the warmth of a true family. “Children are not only our future — they are our present. We, the adults, are responsible for making this present worthy and safe. We are here to ...

New emotions
At the Assistance Center, children not only recover, but also discover completely new emotions. For most of them, this is the first experience of rollerblading or cycling. And we are not exaggerating. Yesterday they were just watching others do it. And today, they are already standing on wheels, laughing, trying to balance, falling and getting up again. This is not just entertainment - it is active recreation, development of coordination, self-confidence, freedom of movement. And most importantly, it is a sense of childhood that children in difficult life circumstances often lack. We thank everyone ...

Each drawing has a heart
Each drawing has a heart. Every clay figure has the warmth of hands. This is how our volunteers Tatiana and Gennady work. They are people who have long been part of the Center's big family. Tetiana is a quiet magic of color. She comes to our children with paints, brushes and incredible tenderness. She teaches them to see the sky in yellow and joy in watercolor spots. Her classes are more than just painting. It is about confidence, freedom and inner peace. She doesn't just teach how to hold a brush - she helps children hold themselves. Gennadiy is a master of clay, patience and kindness. His modeling ...
